Overjoyed to have been awarded ‘Best in Show’ for my painting, ‘Shadow Play’ at the Colorado Visions show in Westminster this spring.
It has been such a wonderful spring around Colorado. We are falling in love with our new surroundings in Northern Colorado, and I’m finding that I could become a bird nerd.
I have had a fantastic time showing my work in three new (to me) venues this spring, including Lincoln Gallery in Loveland, Impasto Gallery in Longmont, and the Westminster City Hall. The biggest surprise and boost came when I won Best in Show for my painting, ‘Shadow Play’ at the Colorado Visions show in Westminster, CO! Jane Hunt was the juror, and I am a huge fan of her gorgeous landscape paintings. It was such an encouragement and joy to be honored with this award from someone whom I admire.
Lots of fun things in store this summer. I will get a chance to do some plein air painting in Taos, NM mid-June, and I’ve been invited to show two plein air paintings in the PAAC show (Plein Air Artists of Colorado) in Boulder in September. From someone who has only begun painting outdoors a short while ago, I am truly humbled and joyful to have been accepted to show my work in this exhibition.
Sometimes as I navigate this crazy art calling, I feel like I’m hiking an obscure path, and I’m not sure if I’ve gone off the trail. I am taking it one step at a time, watching for the right signs and opportunities, but if I haven’t seen a trail marker in a while, I start to get that nervous flutter that perhaps I’ve totally blown it and gotten myself lost.
Today, I feel like I was given a ‘YOU’RE ON THE RIGHT TRACK! KEEP GOING!’ message. I found out that I won 2nd place in the Westward Unbound show at the Center for the Arts Evergreen for my painting, ‘Last Days of Summer’. I am so humbled and honored to have won this award, and it makes me take a tremendous inhale of relief that I haven’t gone off trail. I’m right where I’m supposed to be.
Thanks SO MUCH to everyone who came out to the ASLD Summer Art Market this weekend! It was so much fun to see friends out there, and I feel full of joy and art from looking at so many amazing creations all weekend. It was exciting and fulfilling to show some of the new pieces I’ve been working on, and I appreciated all of the support and encouragement. My heartfelt thanks to each of you who stopped by!
It was a glorious, dry weekend. Perfect summer weather was a tremendous treat!
Now, time to get back to the easel and press.
